To mitigate the impact of rising cost of living and reducing food waste among the people, the Government through the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) has launched a charitable initiative called Food Bank Malaysia Program.
Finance Minister YB Lim Guan Eng, on behalf of Prime Minister YAB Tun Dr. Mahathir Bin Mohamad, launched Food Bank Malaysia Program on 22nd December 2018, aimed at reducing the cost of living for local consumers, especially those in the B40 group.
In line with this, to ensure a more systematic and orderly management of Food Bank Malaysia Program, the Government has launched a foundation known as the Yayasan Food Bank Malaysia. The foundation is a charitable organization placed under the jurisdiction of the Minister Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs and governed by a Board of Trustees pursuant to the Trust Deed dated 22nd December 2018 registered under Section 2 of the Trustee (Incorporation) Act 1952 [Act 258].
The foundation will be the catalyst for the Government’s effort to reduce food waste while addressing the issue of increasing cost of living, especially the poor or the B40.
